Collaborative Publishing:
The new way of publishing in the 21st century.

If traditional publishing is not quite right for your book, then Gutenberg Press will be.

Collaborative Publishing is when you pay a publisher to produce a book on your behalf, and the publisher helps you with marketing and publicity.

Traditional publishing is when you submit a manuscript to a publisher and they choose to publish it. The publisher then pays for all the costs of producing, distributing, and marketing the book. The author (you) then receives royalties as a (tiny) percentage of the sales of the book.

Collaborative publishing is a mix of traditional and self-publishing. Here, the publisher does all the work to produce the book, just like it would normally do for one of its own books, but the author pays the publisher for their services. The publisher designs the cover, edits the manuscript (in collaboration with the author), designs the book interior, sets up printing and distribution, and helps the author with marketing and sales. Because the author paid the publisher for their services, the author gets to keep the bulk of the royalties.

We do all the work for you

For various reasons, traditional publishing may not be the right option for you. However, self-publishing can be a daunting project for a new author to undertake and the results are often sub-standard and amateurish. This is where collaboration with a publisher saves the day: we do all the work and deliver a final product of which you can be proud.

Meet Dan and Joan

Dan Taylor

Creative Director

There is more to designing a book cover than simply pasting a photo and some text onto a page. Design should have feeling and subtext, and it should be done by someone with the skill to do it right. If you want your book to look professional, then let a professional make the book for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! Our parent company, Fortis Publishing Services, is registered as a publisher in the United Kingdom.

It all depends on how busy we are, how busy you are, how complicated your book is to format (eg. lots of photos, marginalia, specialised lay-out).

Paperback: you will receive your book block (the inside) as a word or pdf document and your cover as a print-ready pdf document. You will also receive a digital proof prior to publication – so we can all do some final checks.

Kindle: You will receive your book interior as a word or Kindle Create document and your cover as a jpeg image.

You simply let us know and we make the changes for you. Unlike many other companies, we do not charge authors for making changes to their document. We can even make changes after publication! And, it is always completely free of charge.

Word documents or Google Docs document, please.
