This narrative recounts the inspiring true journey of a 55-year-old woman who, having left the burdens of her past behind, sets out on a quest for freedom through a solo backpacking adventure across Europe. 

 

Her journey included 45 train rides, 14 bus trips, visits to 10 countries, 16 different accommodations, a cable car ride, and a tin boat excursion in an underground cave. 

 

She ascended mountain peaks, traversed the Swiss Alps, experienced the warmth of Venice, felt a deep emotional connection in Ljubljana, discovered her affection for the Czech Republic, and was pleasantly surprised by Germany. 

 

Throughout her travels, she sought a good cup of tea and wished for a kettle in her accommodations.

 In 2022, Paula Rooney undertook a transformative expedition as she traversed 500 miles of the Camino de Santiago in Spain. 


Throughout a span of 36 days, she encountered a spectrum of emotions, ranging from the exhilaration of forging new friendships to the discomfort of blisters and hunger.
