So Who Are We?

Meet the Team

We think it’s important that you can put a name to a face and at Fortis Publishing we pride ourselves on our family run business, even though none of us are related. Operational, at full capacity, there may be as many as thirty people working within the various departments, whether freelancing, working remote, or in our London or Spanish offices. The big cheeses are pictured below.

Callum Beaufort
Production

A recent edition to our team, Callum has worked for a number of years in outside industry, bringing his expertise to a wide range of projects. He defines his speciality as - 'pulling it all together.'
A great organiser and avid reader of crime fiction, we are delighted to welcome him on board.

Tom Hall
Design

Tom studied graphic design in the United States for four years. He has a passion for book and magazine covers and is a talented artist in his own right. Tom's team of specially selected freelancers are responsible for your book covers and if your book contains photographs, the layout and sizing of the interior too.

James Douglas
CEO

James has nearly 20 years experience working in publishing, who started a small independent publisher and sold out to the big boys more than a decade ago. He took some time out, cycled around the world and came back to the UK and started all over again. It's in his blood he tells us, and despite his adventures he missed the thrill of discovering new talent

Pamela Grosvenor
Head of Submissions

Pammy, as she is called here in the office, always has her head in a book or a manuscript, which is just as well given the regular submissions that come in via the website. A self confessed bookworm, she spends her free time and weekends with her head buried in a book at her local library or bookstore.

Joan Elliott
Head of Editing

Whether it's a compelling plot, with vivid characters, story arcs, structure or pacing, Joan cares. A former English teacher, she is also interested in the grammar, spelling and punctuation aspect of your book and insists that her editors work to a 99.99% accuracy rate. However, she is quick to point out that even with such a high level of consistency, an average 100,000 word book will still contain five mistakes.

Ken Scott
Head of Ghostwriting

Scotty has been with us since day one, a prolific author and ghostwriter, he has collaborated on over 40 published books and been listed and shortlisted for some of the biggest literary awards around. Recognised as one of the top 100 ghostwriters in the English language, he runs a tight nit team of book coaches and 'ghosts.' If you are struggling to get the words down, Scotty is the go to man.
